To her new position, Birmingham brings extensive academic credentials, a passion for education and a resolved commitment to the excellence of Lexington College.
She earned a doctor-of-science degree in biostatistics from Harvard University, a masters in science in biostatistics from John’s Hopkins University, and a bachelor’s degree in math and computer science from Marquette University. Her scientific publications have appeared in prestigious journals such as Biometrics, the Journal of the Royal Statistical Society, and the Journal of the American Medical Association.
Professionally, Birmingham served as a statistician for the VA Cooperative Studies Program where she developed and designed protocols to assess biomedical outcomes in multi-center research trials.
Since joining the faculty at Lexington, Birmingham’s broad teaching curriculum has included mathematics, statistics, demography, economics and finance. According to Lexington’s outgoing president, Susan Mangels, Ph.D., Birmingham consistently receives among the highest student evaluations, and her commitment to excellence in education has been recognized by her peers, who presented her with the Educator of the Year award in 2010.
